Fremantle dispute resolved
Since the end of July there has been an ongoing dispute between the Maritime Union of Australia and the Qube Ports in Fremantle, Australia. The conflict is now resolved.
“Wallenius Wilhelmsen is pleased that the QUBE Ports and its employees have come to an agreement”, says Buoy, SVP Logistic Services, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Oceania.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen has a longstanding and continuing relationship with QUBE Ports, which provides stevedoring services for Wallenius Wilhelmsen across Australia.
The conflict led to some delays for some of the vessels coming into Fremantle in October.
“We worked closely with our customers to ensure minimal impact and are grateful for their patient and understanding of this situation”VP sales Oceania
The dispute was between the Fremantle Branch of the MUA and QUBE Ports in Fremantle, which meant that the dispute only involved the Port of Fremantle in Australia. At other Australian ports, Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s agreement with QUBE ensured that operations continued normally.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen has served the Australian market continuously since 1895 and is highly committed to providing a healthy and safe working environment for it’s employees, suppliers and customers.
